PROGRAM
Day 1
Flight Sofia - Madrid. Transfer and check in to hotel for overnight stay in Madrid.
Day 2
Flight Madrid - San Jose.
Arrival in San Jose.
Transfer and check in at the hotel. Overnight.
Day 3
Transfer from the hotel to the port of Tortuguero Park. On the way pass through the departments of La Pavona and Cagno Blanco famous for their huge banana plantations. Breakfast en route. Next, take a boat ride through the canals of Tortuguero National Park, once a volcanic island, now a swamp and hills. The park is world famous and has some of the richest flora and fauna in Central America. Arrive in Tortuguero and check in to your hotel. Lunch. In the afternoon, touristic tour of the Caribbean village of Tortuguero.
Dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Morning and afternoon boat tour of the jungle - sail the Tortuguero Park's water canal system and observe the area's signature green sea turtles, otters, crustaceans, eyed caiman, sea cows, capuchin monkeys, Amazon blue terns, herons, parrots, water bulls and toucans. Free time.
Overnight.
Day 5
After breakfast, transfer by boat to the port and sail to Guapiles. Lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer to Arenal National Park. Check in to hotel in the town of La Fortuna, at the foot of the active Arenal volcano. Free time.
Overnight.
Day 6
After breakfast, tour to Arenal National Park where you will encounter characteristic plant and animal species including various species of monkeys, toucans, sloths, and centenarian tortoises. In the park, you will also be able to see remnants of frozen lava after the last volcanic eruption in 1992. Free time. In the evening, a chance to soak in the thermal waters of the famous Tabacon healing springs.
Overnight.
Day 7
After breakfast, transfer to the Guanacaste resort area located on the Pacific coast and check in at the hotel. The Guanacaste National Park is home to white-nosed coati, white-tailed deer, capuchin monkeys, plough-necked parrots and the squirrel cuckoo. On the beach you can see sea turtles preparing nests for their hatchlings and laying their eggs.
Day 8
Free day for beach and rest.
Day 9
After breakfast transfer to the airport in San Jose.
Flight San Jose - Madrid.
Day 10
Landing in Madrid.
Flight Madrid - Sofia.
